Raise a toast to Spar Retail Buyer Jewell

The head of Spar’s wine buying team has received a top prize at the Drinks Business Awards 2010.Laura Jewell, who holds a Master of Wine title, walked away with the Retail Buyer of the Year Award after impressing in her role at the convenience retailer since joining last year.Previous retail jobs held by Ms Jewell include Wine Buyer positions at supermarket giant Sainsbury’s and wine agency HWCG.
Commenting on her accolade, she said: “I am delighted to win this award, having worked hard with the team and committed real investment into finding the best wines to bring to our consumers since joining Spar last year.”Her work over the last 12 months has seen Spar increase its reputation in the wine market, culminating in the company picking up 80 awards in the three major International Wine competitions at last week’s London International Wine Fair.Meanwhile, Spar Wine Trading Manager Dror Nativ also made the shortlist for Young Achiever of the Year, highlighting the strength in depth of the convenience retailer’s wine team.
