Tower French market win big at real estate show

A new office tower along the Chicago River and a market for independent food sellers received top honors Thursday night at the annual Chicago Commercial Real Estate Awards, considered the Oscars of the industry.Honorees for work during 2009 included developer Hines Interests LP, which built the 57-story building at 300 N. La Salle, one of three new office developments downtown in 2009.Named best redevelopment of 2009 was the Chicago French Market, a project by U.S. Equities Realty at 131 N. Clinton in the Ogilvie Transportation Center.
It appeals to the "shop local" food movement by offering about 30 vendors of fresh ingredients for home cooking or for commuters grabbing a quick lunch.The awards were announced at an annual dinner that raises money for the Greater Chicago Food Depository. This year's event raised about $850,000, organizers said.Build-to-Suit Project of the Year: Leopardo Cos. Inc. for the Aurora Police Headquarters and Branch Court Facility,Industrial Brokers of the Year: Keith Puritz and Brett Kroner at CB Richard Ellis Group Inc.
