Exhibit to feature photographic history of paper company

The Alexander House, 1131 Wisconsin River Drive, Port Edwards, welcomes summer with an exhibit featuring a photographic history of the Nekoosa Edwards Paper Company from the collection of the Alexander House, accompanied by the cut-paper illustrations of Meredith Larsen of Wisconsin Rapids.An opening reception will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday. The public is welcome. The artist will be present, and refreshments will be served. The exhibit will continue through July 13.
Alexander House is well-known for its permanent display of historical artifacts relating to the lumbering and paper industry of the area. The photos that will be on display chronicle the history of the Nekoosa Edwards Paper Co, founded by Lewis Alexander in 1896. Images from both the Nekoosa and Port Edwards mills and the communities make up the collection.During the opening reception, a 16 mm color movie created in 1946 titled "The World Behind the Watermark," featuring footage shot at the Port Edwards and Nekoosa paper mills, will be screened in the lower level meeting room.
