Fashion Industry NewsFashion franchise Monkees opens in HenricoAfter years away from the fashion industry, Lynne Butz is back in the business but in a much different way.Butz owns Monkee's of Richmond in The Shoppes at Westgate in western Henrico County, across from Short Pump Town Center.The shop opened this month.Monkee's marks Butz's return to the apparel industry but puts her in the owner's seat as opposed to a corporate office."This is something I've been thinking about for a long time," she said. Butz previously worked as a corporate buyer for The Limited and then in merchandising for the May Department Stores Co., owner of Hecht's, Foley's and other regional department store chains before the 2005 acquisition by Federated Department Stores Inc.She left the corporate world when the first of her three children was born. The oldest is 18.Now that the kids are older, Butz said, the time was right to return.
