Company NewsOracle buying British database firewall company SecernoOracle, the giant Redwood City software maker, is buying Secerno, a British maker of database firewall technology. Terms of the deal weren't disclosed."The Secerno acquisition is in direct response to increasing customer challenges around mitigating database security risk," Andrew Mendelsohn, Oracle's senior vice president of database server technologies, said in a statement announcing the deal. "Secerno's database firewall product acts as a first line of defense against external threats and unauthorized internal access with a protective perimeter around Oracle and non-Oracle databases," Mendelsohnn said.The company expects its purchase of Secerno, which is based in Oxford, England, to close by the end of next month.Oracle is the world's largest maker of database and other business software. It has grown its business in recent years through a series of multibillion-dollar acquisitions of companies such as Sun Microsystems and BEA Systems.
