Sarawak Cable to expand operations

Sarawak Cable Bhd will focus on expanding its electrical cable manufacturing operations in East Malaysia over the next two years.Managing director and chief executive officer Aaron Toh said the company would increase production capacity to cater for market expansion, while developing new and enhanced power cable and wire products to increase rural electrification coverage in East Malaysia.
He said the government’s commitment to increase electrical supply coverage in Sabah and Sarawak (currently 77% and 66% respectively) to match Peninsular Malaysia’s 95% coverage by 2012 would augur well for its business.Toh also said the company’s renewable energy business was expected to commence operations in third quarter of this year.He said the company had so far invested RM3.47mil and expected to see significant earnings contribution from the new business in the next two years.
