Aviation Industry NewsJordan EU sign aviation agreementJordan and the European Union (EU) on Sunday signed an aviation agreement, which officials believe will boost the industry and offer new opportunities for consumers and air operators from both sides.Transport Minister Alaa Batayneh said the protocol to cover the Euro-Mediterranean Aviation Agreement will enable air carriers to provide services to, from and through any point in the Kingdom, Europe and the Mediterranean partners without any restrictions regarding fares, capacities and frequency. Batayneh added that the agreement is in line with Jordan’s national air transport strategy of gradual liberlisation of air transport to announce the open sky policy in the country by the end of 2011.Suleiman Obeidat, president of the Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission (CARC), said the agreement will be effective when the final accord is signed in Brussels during the upcoming transport council on June 24.
